7 July 1862 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Monday. 7th [July 1862]. Got a letter from FAE & FEB—down pretty early about 9½—after breakfast I practised and toddled abt till luncheon—saw Mr Ponsonby for a few minutes. He returned to town today—he had a very bad cold– After luncheon I went out & played croquet with Montie who beat me each time in the meanwhile Arthur arrived fm London. I played 2 games with Blan:– Had some tea at 5 with Blan: & Montie and wrote letters till dinner time– At dinner Montie talked a gt deal about hunting and in eveng he sang duets with Ivory—I accompanying– I went to bed at 11½– Had a hot bath– | |
