10 August 1862 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset
Sunday. 10th [August 1862]. Not very early. Mr Ponsonby did the service in the morng & preached a most affecting and beautiful sermon, the text was Where is he—from Job. It was a funeral sermon for poor old Pond & seemed to touch us very nearly and brought dear Aug. to our remembrance– In the aftern we had Mr Daniel & it did not do after the morng. As we were sitting on the lawn in the eveng Lady Louisa came with May & we had 5 oclock tea– We then walked home with Lady L—& I & May called at Mrs Pynes– I then went for a walk with Lady L & 4 of the children & was so late that when I came in they had begun dinner–
