14 August 1862 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Thursday. 14th [August 1862]. Rather late—read Milton & some of Popes Homer with Mr Flamanck. After luncheon wrote some of my Self help—(the reign of Philip I of France). I then practised shorthand & had tea, but did not go out at all. Played chess in the eveng & Ivor helped me. | |
