16 August 1862 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Saturday. 16th [August 1862]. There was a cricket match Canford v. Christchurch. I wrote letters in the morng till 11½– I then went to the field till luncheon taking out salvolatile– After luncheon we all went out and were joined by the Ponsonby’s– Canford was beaten out & out– I walked up with Lady L. Ponsonby to her house and gave the children a good swing– Ivor played chess with Mr Fetherstonhaugh in the eveng. Connie played the piano—Milord & Mankie left by the first train for Uffington. | |
