18 August 1862 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Monday. 18th [August 1862]. I played billiards all the morng with Mr F. He beat me once, I him, we played till lunch. Ivor went off to town by the 1 oclock train & Schr to Cheltenham– I drove Mr F into the station in the basket carriage & then came back for Ecca. I took her then for a drive and we came home and then went to Mrs Pynes. I got a letter from Blossett fm Cromer. After tea I played a game of chess with Mr Pyne and of course was beaten—but it was a good game– I played a game also with Temmie after dinner & 2 of backgammon—to bed at 11– | |
