22 August 1862 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Friday. 22nd [August 1862]. The first thing after breakfast I and Elizabeth went up to Mrs Whitelocks to paper her house. We took a jug of paste with us—at 1 oclock Trenfield came up to see how we were getting on and then sent us up some buns for luncheon. Ecca came up in afternoon and brought us up some tea—we had tea in the porch of the little lodge and went on working till 7½– I read M. Chuzzlewit to the M. after dinner. | |
