23 August 1862 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Saturday. 23rd [August 1862]. Went up again to Mrs Whitelocks and finished the room. Ecca brought us up some luncheon– We finished at about 4½ so I went to Mrs Pynes to try and get some tea but as she was out I went to Mrs Luffs—had tea with her and saw the baby– I then went back to Mrs Whitelock and staid till 8 while Elisabeth had finished cleaning it. After dinner I read to the mother out of Martin Chuzzlewit and went to bed pretty early & very tired. I had a bath in eveng. | |
