16 September 1862 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Tuesday. 16th [September 1862]. Played the Dorchester and were beaten. Mr Fether: throat better and he was able to be out a little. In the afternoon Lady Jane Repton, Mrs Venerbles and 2 Miss Farquharsons came over and stayed 6 hours. The M. would not come out so I entertained them. Miss Farquharson came to see Maj: Harent who was playing on Dorchester side and to whom she is engaged. When the match was over we came in & had some music & Mr Ashley who was leaving was persuaded to stay to dinner. He left at about 10 ocl. after playing billiards with the children. | |
