20 September 1862 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Saturday. 20th [September 1862]. Got up pretty early. After breakfast I brushed the billiard table & then went and read in the conservatory. At about 10 Schr arrived and went off again at 1½. Con: went to the station & brought back Ivor who came from Aakers Wood by the train, Schr went to London. I put up flowers in morng. Immediately after luncheon Blanche & I went to the kitchen garden and got some more flowers. I had just finished arranging the flowers in a new glass epergne for the dinner table when Marias 2 children arrived and shortly after Maria herself having sailed up from the station. We gave her lunch and then she walked with me & Ecca to the village, called on Mrs Pynes who was gone to Poole & then went to the Pon: We found Mr Pon: in & paid him a visit. Richard arrived by the 7 oclock and Car: Churchill just a little before. Blanche & Con: went to the singing and I walked on the terrace with Car: After dinner Ivor & I sang & made a great noise retiring to bed at 11—but I sat up writing till past 1– | |
