27 September 1862 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset
Saturday. 27th [September 1862]. Late for breakfast. The men played racquets. I sat mostly in the hall & played billiards with Car. Directly after luncheon Ivory left for Scotland and the Grahams left by the same train. I drove with Car to the station at 2 and then went and did a little shopping in Wimborne. Nobody was at home so I sat alone all the aftern. There came on at about 6 a thick fog and it suddenly became quite dark. B & C went to the singing. I slept with Ria.
