29 October 1862 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset
Wednesday. 29th [October 1862]. We all sat in the hall & Mr Adye came at 12 and brought his violin with him. He & Connie played Beethoven’s sonatas together & the M. also played with him till luncheon. After lunch Con: photod us and Mrs Adye and Miss Bateman a friend of hers called. We all then went to the racquet court. I did not stay there long but came in by 5. The parcel fm Brighton had arrived—a book for me from FEB. After looking at it and helping Blan: to put her photos: in her new book we went down to tea where we found the gentlemen having come in fm racquets. After dinner they all played and sang & when we retired I & Mrs Fetherstonhaugh went to Mrs Hambro’s room for some sherry & seltzer which Merthyr brought us. Merthyr went to town.
