12 November 1862 — Exeter House, Roehampton
Wednesday. 12th [November 1862]. Was down rather earlier. Atwood brought the Baby to my room whilst I was dressing. At 11 I, Schr & the M. started for town, we waited about some time till Maria had finished giving orders about her house & took her with us. We went to Descon and I ordered myself a dress and then we took Maria to Mrs Normans and the M. & I went on to the Exhn. The M. made me buy myself a pair of Genoises hair pins and we stayed about till 4. We then went and called for Maria and drove straight home over Putney Bridge– Had tea in the study and I sat with Maria till dinner. At dinner we had a gt discussion about Lady’s dress and some fun. I played in the eveng & went to bed shortly after 10.
