Sunday. 16th [November 1862]. Blanche came in at 10.20 to ask me to go to church with her– I was not up but I quickly jumped up, dressed and was ready for church but was obliged to go without any breakfast. Maria, Rd, the M. & Schr also went but altho’ we went as fast as we could we were rather late. Mr Henley did the service and preached in aid of the Lancashire poor– Ivor left for town in the middle of lunch & I did not go to church in the aftern.
