6 December 1862 — Exeter House, Roehampton
Saturday. 6th [December 1862]. I was very late and when I was up I practised in the drawg room till lunch. Temmie went to town so I gave Alice her dinner & then read 63 pages of Arnold’s Life of Macaulay. We had tea at 5 & I then practised in the schoolroom. Ivor came down at about 6½ to stay till Monday. After dinner we played Casino with Ivor. Went to bed at a little before 11. Ivor did not come up till late but he came & had one cigar. As we were sitting talking in rushed Ecca all dishevelled to say she could not sleep and wanted a book. We made her sit down & then soon went off to bed– I did not get to sleep till between 3 & 4. as I had an indigestion–
