8 December 1862 — Exeter House, Roehampton | |
Monday. 8th [December 1862]. The M. sent in the carriage to fetch Kate. I went for a walk with Ecca. Kitty came with the baby at about 5. Had tea & then we had to dress for dinner. Mr Layard & Mr Bruce came to dinner & stopped the night. Mr & Lady Mary Arkwright also came down to dinner. I sat next to Mr Bruce & opposite Mr Ark: Had some singing & playing in the eveng when the Arks: had left there was some whist. Kate shares my room & sleeps with me. | |
