3 March 1863 — Exeter House, Roehampton
Tuesday. 3rd [March 1863]. Not very early for breakfast. I went out into the garden without bonnet or shawl & picked violets, primroses and crocuses. It was a lovely day & the sun was quite hot. I went an hour to work at the visiting list and at 12¼ set out for Wimbledon to fetch Molly Alderson who was having a singing lesson from Mme Goldschmidt/Jenny Lind. We walked home together for luncheon. After lunch we sang till 3½ & then went out walking on the heath; we called at Maria’s & then Mollie went to Baron Hambro’s with the M. I went in. At ¼ 6 I went in and did Maria’s hair as she was dining out and after dinner I changed my dress & we started for the Aldersons and took Mollie with us. We sang party songs accompanied by a Mr Mann– We sang from 9 to 11 and then went home–
