27 May 1863 — Exeter House, Roehampton
Wednesday. 27th [May 1863]. Mme DuPouy came but I had no time to take my lesson as I had to practise for Hallé & at 12 went out riding with Con: & Schr. Felicia rode with us. I came home at 1½ & dressed to go to take my lesson of Hallé—went with Jenny at 3. Saw old Mrs Layard for one moment. She came to luncheon. From my music lesson I walked home & found Mr Welby & Con: & the M. waiting for me to set off to the flower show in the Exhibition building. The show of azaleas was splendid & there were some lovely roses– Having seen the flowers we proceeded to the Conservatory where the bands were playg & people were sauntering about—met the Edmund Du Canes and walked about with them. We then took our drive in the Park & put Mr Welby down in Piccadilly– Had rather a row with the M & went to bed early.
