30 May 1863 — Exeter House, Roehampton
Saturday. 30th [May 1863]. At 10 we started for Waterloo Station & on the way I called at Mrs Brown’s & bought a hat—went by the 11 train & arrived at Wimborne at ¼ 3. I walked from the Station and passing Ivory in his boat (the Una) got in & had a little sail– There as usual on this river being very little wind we returned & I had lunch & tidied myself. At 6 the party came Mr & Mrs C. Hambro, Mr & Mrs Felix Webber, Ld Rd Grosvenor, Mr Dawson Danier & Lewie Gordon, Arthur & Montie. Had tea & then went to the cricket ground where the gentlemen ran races & jumped hurdles till past 8 when we came in to dinner but did not dine till nearly 10. Sat next Mr Danier who greatly amused me– Played a little in eveng & Monty sang—bed at 1. Mrs Hambro came & had some seltzer water in my room.
