23 May 1864 — 11 Cavendish Square | |
Monday. 23rd [May 1864]. Connie came home at abt 11. I put off Gordini as I expected Hallé but just after got a note from Hallé to say he must go to the Princess instead. Did cards all the morng. I practised before lunch & Blossett came and stayed to lunch then took Blan: & Con: to see a dancing class at Lady R. Cecils. After lunch Mary Felmer called and brought her sister of 16 & her little brother Micky. I amused the children till Edith Turner came. I had to send Miss Kemble for Connie & we had T. After wh I went out driving with the M. We went & shopped etc– In the eveng we went to Mrs Weguelins ball in Eaton Square, saw Monty there. IBG only returned to town just as we were starting for the ball and so he did go to this ball– I danced a good deal & was rather tired. | |
