8 June 1864 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Wednesday. 8th [June 1864]. In morng I practised. Ivor went to see Luff & finding him worse telegraphed for Dr Webblin fm Southampton. We printed a good deal in fact until 5 oclock wh IBG got a telegram to say Arthur was coming. I & Blanche drove to Ashington to see the 2 old Altens & then went to the Meabys & school. Miss K went to Poole with Mrs Pyne & I went up to the village to fetch her home. Dr W. & Arthur came at 6 & the former immediately said he must cut Luffs hand under chloroform wh he did. Arthur kept us talking a long time & we printed till after 12. | |
