15 October 1864 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset
Saturday. 15th [October 1864]. I was dreadfully sleepy on waking and was consequently late– The M. went off by the 1st train to Freshwater to see Blanche who is only just recovering from the jaundice. After breakfast I & S came up stairs to my bedroom & finished trimming the hat for me. At 12 I went with Susan to the station where she met Mr H. & went on to Milton with him & returned & helped Connie to write letters & wind wool. After lunch we went for a drive in Luff’s poney carriage 1st to see old Mrs Hayes at the end of the new drive—then on by Oakley to Mrs Pennington’s & I read to her & called in upon Deane. Then we went home & Connie dropt me at the school where I had a consultation with Miss Clewitt abt teaching the girls to knit. We then went to Mrs Pynes where we had T. & stopt till 7. Came home & wrote letters to Miss Kemble & Blanche. We dined in the dining room & after dinner I made Connie play wh she did till late. I then sang a little & went to bed 1st going to have a little chat with Connie in her room.
