24 October 1864 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Monday. 24th [October 1864]. Was down at abt 9 & went in to breakfast alone with the M. I went to print very soon after breakfast & printed the last sheet of Part I of the Self Help Essays & then began to make a title page, wh took us till lunch. We went on at it for an hour after lunch & at 3 I went to the school knitting class & at 4 went to the garden & got some apples & pears from Baker. I then came home & Blanche asked me to go out with her so we went to Mrs Allen’s & home round by the village. We had T. in my bed room and wrote our letters. Schr was telegraphed for to Cheltenham where he went by mail. After dinner I sat a long time with Luff. Miss Kemble has been with us 21 years today. The M. told us we were to return to Ex. House next Tuesday. | |
