30 October 1864 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Sunday. 30th [October 1864]. Rather a late breakfast & church at 11. Mr Combes preached for the 1st time at Canford– Mr Ponsonby did service in the afternoon and after church Con: started to play the organ & I went for a walk with Mrs Ponsonby. We went across the fields to enquire after Farmer Petty who is very ill with inflammation of lungs. We then went with Mr Pon: to the Vicarage & had 5 T with him & after a while the M. & Schrei: came there so I walked home with them; Mr Pon: came to dinner & we had a very cheerful meal & a great deal of talk abt Müller & teased Miss K. abt it. We sang hymns all the eveng & to bed at 11½. As I was talking to Connie we met Capt E. S. in the passage & had some chaff with him & then went off to bed. | |
