31 October 1864 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Monday. 31st [October 1864]. Practised in the morng. At 1 I & Con: & Blanche rode with Schrei: to see the yeomanry drill at Gaunts. The M & Temmie went in the brougham. Mr Flamanck & I had therefore luncheon together, directly after lunch I went to Mrs Allen at the lodge abt the knitting & then I went & sat for ½ hour with Mrs Patey who is still bedridden. I then called at the school but finding that there was scarlet fever at Moretown thought it safer not to go in so went on to Mrs Pynes & got Mary to go out with me, we went 1st to Mrs Solomon Whitelocks at Oakley & then to Mrs Hayes & old Mrs Pearce—from there thro’ the covers to Mrs Pennington & old Dean & read to him—took them both wine from Mr Pon: & dinner– Got back to Pynes at abt 5 stayed there a few min. & then came home wrote—had T. Capt. Eliot returned with Mr Pon: by 1st train to Port Eliot. | |
