20 December 1864 — Exeter House, Roehampton
Tuesday. 20th [December 1864]. At 1 oclock Ivor & I started in the carriage to go to town. I dropped Ivor at Racquet Court & then went on to 115 Jermyn Street to see the Berties. I met Monty in Jer: St also on his way to 115 & took him there. We found them at lunch and also Merthyr. I only stayed a few minutes & FEB told me she cd not come to Ex. Hse to dine tonight. I took Monty to Purvis & Hippy Damers & then went to do some shopping in Bond St to Phillips, Willis & Sotheran, Luffs & called on Princes for Ivor, who had left on my way home. I got home at 5 in time for T. & made the buttered toast. Ivor came back to dinner & played chess in the eveng & worked.
