30 December 1864 — Dan-y-Graig, nr. Bridgend, Glamorgan
Friday. 30th [December 1864]. Had breakfast in bed & did not get up till past 12. Arthur is better & I found him sitting in his arm chair enveloped in a blanket. I read to him some of Hoods poems. At 3 I went out walking up the hill and also up to the summer house. I went & had a talk with Mrs Nash the lodge keeper & sat with her a little while till Monty & Pen Vivian rode over. We gave them some food & I had 5 T. After T. I sang to Pen V. while Monty was with Arthur. After 7 they went off again & Monty promised to return tomorrow as we intended leaving but Arthur afterwards begged us to stay till Monday wh we agreed to do. After dinner I sat with Arthur for ½ hour & at ½ past nine we had coffee & to bed at 10.
