11 January 1867 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset
Friday. 11th [January 1867]. I passed a bad night & did not rise till after breakfast. We read in the morning and afternoon. Bee went to Wimborne in the carriole and I walked to the Meabys and then only as far as Luffs. He showed me all the new part of the farm wh has just been built. I had some tea there & walked home with Luff. Heard from Marie Tanitegines. Directly after dinner Bee & I went in the brougham to the Pynes to see them & the Ponsonby children act charades. They acted in the office & did “Turnkey” and “Conundrum,” besides 2 tableaux of Fair Rosamund & the “Beauty Awakened.” They did it very well & we came home at 10½. Monty kept me talking in Luff’s room till late.
