Tuesday. 23rd [March 1869]. We breakfasted rather late. Dr Burton came to see me at 11. Soon after came Mr Boxall & then Mr Rate & Mr Stewart. Then came Connie—the M—Bee & Ivor. At 1½ the M drove me to see Mrs Rate & then left me. After paying her a visit (she was in bed) I walked on to lunch at 20 Chapel St to lunch with Adeline & meet Maria. After lunch M. & I drove to 12 Up. Brook St to see Cornelias baby & then M. brought me home. At 5 ocl tea I had Ade Bee, Maria & Connie & L—Monty—the M. & Hy also returned. Rd & Maria dressed here & then we all 4 went to dine at 3 Victoria St with Monty & met Connie & the Arthurs. I went then with Connie in Ld St. Germans’ carriage. After dinner Hy & Arthur went to the Hse & tonight being the great division on the Irish Church Hy did not get home till nearly 4 o’clock. Today Hy gave me a bracelet being Esarhaddon’s signet wh he had found at Nineveh & had set by Phillips.
