8 June 1869 — 21 Grafton Street
Tuesday. 8th [June 1869]. At ½ past 11 Henry & I went off to Rassam’s wedding at St George’s & found another wedding going on wh was not quite finished. It was Lady Annabella King Noel married to Mr Blount an attaché. Then Rassam & Miss Price were married. We went also to the breakfast given by Mr Edwin Price Q.C. at 19 Thurloe Sqr. Henry did not stay long as he had business. I stayed thro’ the breakfast & there were the usual dose of speeches & health drinking. At abt ½ past 2 I went off to Lady Somers’s & found her at lunch. I only stayed there abt ¼ hour & went home. Wrote letters & read all the afternoon. Henry came in at ½ past 5 & we drank some tea. We then went out riding & came back to dress for dinner. We all 3 dined at Mrs Rate’s. Sir Alexander Gordon took me down & I sat next to Mr Rate. We met Lady Fanny Baillie & Lady C. Locker &c. Hy went back to the Hse & did not come home till past 2.
