22 September 1869 — Villa Careggi, Florence | |
Wednesday. 22nd [September 1869]. Breakfast at 10 and afterwards Henry went into Florence with Monsignore. I stayed with Mrs Sloane and spent a good time writing letters. In the afternoon it came on to rain & blow hard & the flowerpots on the terrace were many of them thrown down. It was what they call a “burrasca”. We dined at 4 o’cl and had tea at ½ past 9 & bed abt 10. | |
