Saturday. 23rd [October 1869]. Henry went to Ld Clarendon to settle abt Madrid finally & to know when we are to start. He gave us 3 weeks. Henry came back to luncheon & Maria came up. We told her the news. All the afternoon Maria & I sat together talking it over. Richard came to dinner & Maria stayed. Mr Rate came also & explained he had been at Milton the day before. | |
