22 March 1870 — Madrid | |
Tuesday. 22nd [March 1870]. We got up early & Henry went to the station to meet the M & S. who arrived at ½ past 8 having travelled all night & come from Alicante. We had breakfast & spent all the morning showing them our things & the house—besides which I did a good deal of writing for Henry as the Messenger is to go tomorrow. After lunch Henry took them to several curiosity shops & then at 4 came back & fetched me & we went for a drive in Mon Cloa & came home abt 5. We dined quietly at ½ past 7 & went to bed early. | |
