25 March 1870 — Madrid | |
Friday. 25th [March 1870]. The M & S. went china hunting & after lunch we were going to the Museum but we found it all closed as it was a feast day & general holiday so we merely drove in the Fuente & dropped Mr Schreiber at the Buen Retiro gardens as he wished to see the Velocipede race wh was taking place there. Lord & Lady Blandford & Lady Georgina Hamilton, Mess Ff: Ash: & Sey: dined & they went away early– They told us 2 men had stabbed each other outside their hotel & were both dead. | |
