28 March 1870 — Madrid
Monday. 28th [March 1870]. The weather was so bad & the E. Wind so cold that I did not go out at all & let Henry take Mama & Mr S. out in the afternoon. They had Zuluaga here all the morning looking at their treasures & holding forth on china. In the afternoon they went to the Musée & I sent for Mme Riaño & being so cold we agreed to stay in doors & chatted & worked. At 5 they returned from the Gallery & Mme Riaño went home about 6. We had usual dinner party—Senr Madrazo & his daughter Isabelle, Senr Zarco del Valle, M. Comyn, M. Pedrorena. We had a good deal of piano music but no singing as the Hunts were in mourning & could not come. I had a long letter from Kitty.
