3 April 1870 — Madrid
Sunday. 3rd [April 1870]. Up rather late. Church at ½ past 11. After church I had some writing to do for Henry & some letters by post & while we were writing in a great hurry a little man one of the managers of the Archil Museum who came to ask to see the Nineveh cylinders. We had therefore just time to snatch some luncheon and then to go off to the concert. We found Mr Hunt there but he said Mrs Hunt was expecting us to call for her—so he went back to fetch her– We did not care so very much for todays concert as they played a long symphony composed by one of the Orchestra. We walked home– Henry stopt to call on Lady Ely at the “Principes” & Mrs Hunt, Mr Ashm: & I walked home together & Mr Ash. left us at the door & he & Messrs Ff. & Sey dined with us the Hunts joining in the eveng & we had some music.
