8 April 1870 — Madrid | |
Friday. 8th [April 1870]. I was rather tired & got up late so that I had only time to do a little writing in the morng but being a windy day I thought I would not go out but sent to tell Mme Riaño to bring her work & come & spend the afternoon with me. After she came it was finer & Henry proposed that we should go out for a drive so we went out to the Casa & had a very nice drive by the old race course & I there saw a flight of 14 magpies! This eveng the Hunts & Inzenga dined with us and we sang all the evening & practised & learnt some new things. Cerruti came in for a little while in the eveng. | |
