21 April 1870 — Madrid | |
Thursday. 21st [April 1870]. The Genl got up early & went to the Escurial but the others were too tired to go. I did not go out in the morning but sat & wrote & in afternoon we took Mr Cole for a drive in the Casa de Campo and to curiosity shops– Mr Allan Cole & Mr Campbell also M. Gayangos dined with us & the Riaños came in the evening & there was a grand exhibition of crockery old jewelry & talks about bric-a-brac. | |
