23 April 1870 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 23rd [April 1870]. The Genl left early this morng with Coles for Zaragoza & so now all our guests have departed. I wrote in morng and Miss Whyte came to practise hymns at 11. At 12 I went to Palmaroli’s & sat for my picture till 2 & Mrs Hunt came there to entertain me. Henry came & fetched me home. At ½ past 3 the Prim children the 3 Acapulcos, Brosé Mercier, the Bauer children, Mme Riano & her boy & Venturita, Pepita & Conchita Serrano came and we had Easter eggs hidden about the rooms for the children to find & Cerruti came & took the lead with the games & brought flowers, birds, oranges & asparagus for presents for the children which greatly delighted them & they played very happily till 7 o’cl: We were rather tired & glad to dine alone & spend a quiet eveng. | |
