10 May 1870 — Madrid | |
Tuesday. 10th [May 1870]. I wrote letters in the morning to poor Grannie & the M– We lunched at 1 as Henry had an appointment & I & Mrs Burr were to go to the Armoury & Hy arranged to meet us there at 3. Just as we were starting Mr Ff: & Lord Blandford came but we did not stay in for them. Ld: B. said his party were starting off home & so we took leave of each other & we went on to the Armoury where Hy ultimately came & we came back to tea & afterwards went out for a drive. Just as we were starting we met Mr Riaño who was coming to see us so we made him get into the carriage & took him to his house & then went for a drive in the Fuente to show Mrs Burr the notabilities who drive there. Mr Ffrench dined with us & we sat up latish talking. | |
