4 June 1870 — Madrid
Saturday. 4th [June 1870]. Mrs Burr went off by an early train to Segovia. At 10 I went with Hill to sit to Palmaroli at ½ past 11 he brought me back so I had time to write to B & some writing for Henry & practice the Seguidilla. Henry had news that the Bonells had been released by the Brigands & were gone back to Gibraltar. We rode at 5 but met no one. Dined alone & afterwards went to the Palace to call on the Dss & then on to Mme Canitz. Only met Mme Karnicky there & came back with the carriage open–
