10 June 1870 — Madrid | |
Friday. 10th [June 1870]. Wrote letters in the morning & heard from Ivor also Mrs Hutchins & wrote for Henry. At 3 Mrs Burr & I went out driving & called for Mme Riaño to go shopping with us. We went & got some nice church altar silk to make cushions of & also went to see some crêpe shawls but did not buy any tho’ I was tempted by a red one. We came home at 4.15 & at 6 I rode with Henry in the Casa. At 9 we went to Price’s circus & met the Regent & Dss there & “Paco” the eldest boy & stayed till rather late– A Miss danced very gracefully on the slack rope at a very nice distance from the ground. This morning we had the pleasure of receiving the 4 great looking glasses we had got from Italica church & had them unpacked & laid on the floor of an empty room so after shopping we brought Mme Riaño to see them & also the patio which we are planting & making pretty. | |
