6 July 1870 — La Granja
Wednesday. 6th [July 1870]. When I came to breakfast I found a good many parcels wh had been forwarded by the Spanish Minister & amongst others the satins for my old embroidery so directly after breakfast I set to work to begin to cut it out & this took up the time till 12.30 when I went to sew with the Dss & there finished the necktie I had been about. After lunch I wrote out a dispatch for Henry wh being long took me till 5 when we had tea & went out driving– We drove a little further up the road than yesterday & had a lovely walk along the Balsaim in the fir woods Henry fishing & I reading “Cloister Life of Charles V.” Henry caught one trout & hooked another but got his line entangled & broken so as it was getting late we came home. We found the piano the Dss had promised to get lent to us out of the Palace & so after dinner I played & sang & then read a little of Stanley—to bed at 11.
