11 July 1870 — Madrid | |
Monday. 11th [July 1870]. A deal of writing for Henry wh took me the whole morning. Nearly all day the wind was very high and we had in the afternoon quite a hurricane & dust storm so that we could not go out in the day. Henry still doing all he can to settle the Hohenzollern affair. After dinner Henry & I went for a walk to call on the Riaños & found them in & old Mme Riaño staying with them & a Mr y Serrano paying them a visit. We sat & talked some time with them & had Horchata wh was refreshing & then we came home in a cab. | |
