18 July 1870 — Madrid | |
Monday. 18th [July 1870]. I received letters from Kitty & Bee & answered them besides writing to Mrs Burr & copying two notes for Henry. In afternoon read & worked and after tea practised singing. Mercier sent to ask Henry to go & dine with him to meet Sr Martos so I sent & invited the Hunts & we dined at 7. Absolutely no news from France today– After dinner I & the Hunts walked to the Buen Retiro Gardens to hear the concert. Before the 2nd part Henry, Mercier & Martos joined us & at ½ past 11 we asked Mercier to drive us home which he kindly did in his basket-carriage. | |
