3 August 1870 — Madrid | |
Wednesday. 3rd [August 1870]. A very idle day doing very little besides attending to Hill in the morning but now the woman Elisa who attends her does the dressing of her arm. All the furniture has to be moved down to the first floor & they began it today & at 5 o’cl: the drawg room was arranged & we went down there to tea. The staircase is to be rebuilt and all the house papered & painted wh will take 2 months to do. We went for a ride in the Casa de Campo. Mr Hunt dined with us & we took him afterwards to the Retiro gardens, there were very few people there. | |
