16 September 1870 — Madrid | |
Friday. 16th [September 1870]. At 3 o’clock I went out in the carriage to do some shopping with Emilia Riaño, however it was so hot that we were obliged to come home almost directly & we both mended tapestry till ½ past 5 when we went out again & took a drive in the Fuente. Mr Nava de Tajo and Cerruti dined with us. Cerruti is full of excitement still over the pleasure he had in seeing the body of Charles Vth at the Escurial 2 days ago. | |
