Tuesday. 11th [October 1870]. I went to sit for my portrait to Palmaroli till 1 o’cl: after luncheon we drove out to Caravanchel to call on Mme Montijo—found she was laid up in bed. There were so many people calling that we thought it kinder to leave Mme Nava de Tajo & go again another day. | |
