12 October 1870 — Madrid | |
Wednesday. 12th [October 1870]. I went to work with the Dss to finish the winter gown she is making me there. Took a ride in afternoon towards Chamartin, a lovely day. Dined at 7 & we went to the theatre– The Hunts with us we saw “Pepe Hillo” a very pretty Zarzuela. Pepe Hillo was a celebrated bull fighter of the last century & the costumes were Goyesque & effective. The Bull ring being introduced was very pretty & caused great delight & excitement to the audience. | |
