18 October 1870 — Madrid | |
Tuesday. 18th [October 1870]. I went to sit to Pal: After luncheon Cerruti came in & I thro’ mistake did not go off to fetch Henry till ½ hour after the time. He had agreed to meet me at the Hacienda & to drive to Caravanchel. We went but did not find her at home & so left a note Hy had for her from Mr Ffrench who has been to see the Empress at Chislehurst & has written Mme Montijo an account of his visit. Messrs Underdown & Lushington (son of old Dr L.) dined here also the Hunts & Inzenga came in the eveng. We sang glees & duetts &c. The Riaños also came & we had a pleasant eveng. | |
