28 October 1870 — Madrid | |
Friday. 28th [October 1870]. Le Comte Nava de Tajo came to see Henry on business just before we started for Caravanchel to see old Mme Montijo. We found her very well & a good many people calling. We told them of the capitulation of Metz of which the news had just come before we left for our drive. The Riaños dined with us & after dinner Henry & Mr R went to the Academy & I & Emilia spent the evening together till they returned. | |
